Haryana: The Haryana Civil Medical Service Association (HCMSA) has demanded the immediate cancellation of the suspension order of the three doctors of the civil hospital in Hisar. This came after the health department issued suspension letters of the three doctors under the charges of issuing a wrong medical opinion in the medical examination of one of the doctors in order to "save their colleague". Standing with the three doctors, HCMSA president, Dr. Jasbir Singh Parmar also stated that the suspension was unjust and should be revoked immediately.
The case concerned where the concerned doctor was acting produced before the court in a matter. The doctor of the Civil Hospital appeared to be intoxicated, prompting the judge to order an immediate medical examination of the concerned doctor
According to The Tribune, the judge noted that the doctor was in no condition to stand properly. "He appears to be in an inebriated condition so the chief medical officer is directed to get him medically examined and to report regarding the consumption of liquor if any."
Following the court's order, a medical board was formed and was instructed to submit a report on the same day. The three civil doctors of Hisar were included in the board and they gave their report stating that the accused doctor did not agree to give the sample for the test; however, his appearance seemed to be conscious and cooperative. They also added that the probability of any substance consumption or any kind of intoxication could not be ruled out.
Soon after considering the report, the judges mentioned that the opinions of the doctors seemed to be biased, and an attempt to save their fellow colleague. The court further added that the accused doctor failed to appear in the court despite a bailable warrant and his presence was sought through a non-bailable warrant. Meanwhile, the court directed the health department director to look into the matter and take necessary steps. Following the direction, the health department has issued a notice of suspension to the three doctors.
The President of Haryana Civil Medical services association Dr. Jasbir Singh Parmar told the Medical Dialogues that the association stands with the three doctors and the suspension is baseless and they asked the authorities to immediately revoke the suspension order. He has also informed that they will be waiting for the authority's response till the next Monday and after that, they will decide their further course of action.
Supporting him, HCMS Association district president Dr Kamid Monga told The Tribune that "We urge the government to revoke the orders as such action will adversely affect the morale of doctors who are leading the fight against COVID."
