Himachal Govt strengthens healthcare infrastructure in Una district
Una: Several initiatives have been undertaken in the Una district to expand medical infrastructure, provide modern facilities, and ensure access to healthcare in remote areas. These initiatives have led to residents increasingly benefiting from improved treatment facilities through a well-developed health network ranging from regional hospitals to sub-health centres.
Emphasising that a healthy society is essential for a progressive state, the Government of Himachal Pradesh has been taking steps to modernise and strengthen healthcare services under the leadership of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.
According to a recent UNI report, Una Chief Medical Officer Dr. Sanjeev Verma said, "The district currently has one regional hospital, five civil hospitals, ten community health centers, three Employees' State Insurance dispensaries, 24 primary health centers, and 138 sub-health centers providing healthcare services."

Dr. Verma stated that under the guidance of Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu and the efforts of Health Minister Dr. (Colonel) Dhaniram Shandil, priority is being given to modernizing and expanding medical infrastructure to ensure accessible and quality healthcare services for every citizen.
He explained that in addition to the regional hospital, five civil hospitals are operating in Una district, located in Amb, Chintpurni, Haroli, Gagret, and Bangana. Additionally, ten community health centers are functioning in Dulahad, Kugrat, Bhadasali, Bitan, Dhusara, Basdehra, Santoshgarh, Daulatpur Chowk, Thanakalan, and Panjawar. In addition, 24 primary health centres and 138 sub-health centres provide primary healthcare services in the rural areas of the district. Additionally, there are three Employees' State Insurance dispensaries in Tahliwal, Gagret, and Mehatpur.
He added that the construction of the PGI Satellite Centre in the district is also progressing rapidly. Currently, the Regional Hospital, Una, is providing outpatient services through the PGI Satellite Centre, staffed by specialist doctors from PGI Chandigarh. This allows patients to receive expert consultation locally, reducing the need for outpatient visits.
The Chief Medical Officer noted, "The state government is also focusing on improving cleanliness and quality in healthcare institutions. Efforts are being made to improve cleanliness, hygiene, and infection control in hospitals through the Kayakalp scheme. Work is also underway to develop various healthcare institutions in accordance with national quality assurance standards, ensuring safe and quality healthcare services for patients."
Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal claimed that, as directed by Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, continuous efforts were being made to strengthen and modernize healthcare services in Una district. Effective steps have been taken to strengthen the infrastructure of health institutions in the district, expand medical facilities, and ensure access to health services in remote areas, reports UNI.
Special attention is also being paid to cleanliness, quality improvement, and ensuring services in accordance with national standards in health institutions. As a result of these efforts, the district's health infrastructure is continuously strengthening.
