Tanda Medical College gets new CT Scan

Shimla: Following news that the CT scan machine has been out of order for the past 10 months causing grave inconvenience to the patients at Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College (RPGMC) Tanda ( Tanda Medical College). Jai Ram Thakur, Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, inaugurated a new CT scan at RPGMC, Tanda, on Wednesday.

The new CT scan comes at a cost of Rs 5 crore to the state government and has 128-slice modern tech with the latest diagnostic facility.

Last year on November 20, CM Jai Ram Thakur promised RPGMC for a new CT scan and would be operational within a few weeks. Due to the lack of proper functioning of the CT scan, several patients had to be referred to private radiology centres. This had become a major cause of concern for emergency patients as well as costly affair for even regular patients 

After several attempts, the CM did fulfill his promise and provided the centre with a new CT scan machine.

Chief Minister said that Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College at Tanda was one of the most premier Medical colleges of the State and was catering to health requirements of about six districts of the State. He said that the sharp spike in number of covid cases was a matter of concern. He said that the doctors, paramedical staff and other frontline workers were working round the clock to protect the lives of the people from this virus. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also appreciated the frontline health workers of the State for making Himachal Pradesh the first State to achieve target of cent percent vaccination of all the people of eligible age group. He said that the indigenous vaccine developed in the country has also been effective in protecting the people against this virus.

Jai Ram Thakur said that the State Government has succeeded to achieve the arduous task of vaccination by vaccinating people of far-off places such as Bara Bhangal, Malana and Dodra Kawar villages etc. He said that the State also earned a distinction of zero per cent wastage of vaccine, due to the commitment of doctors and other para medical staff.

Chief Minister said that the State has made outstanding progress in strengthening health infrastructure in the State to provide specialized health services to the people nearer to their homes. He said that at one time there were only 50 ventilators in the State, but today Tanda Medical College has 165 ventilators. He said that Rs. 165 crore have been provided for the Medical College during the last four years for various works and machineries. He said that digital X-Ray and digital mammography machine would be provided at the earliest in the Medical College. He said that multi-storey parking would also be constructed in the college. He said that work on Centre of excellence of Mental Health, Sarai Bhawan, Trauma Centre, building of Nursing, Hostel for Girl students, MCH Building and Faculty block would be expedited and completed soon. He announced Rs 20 lakh each for foot bridge and local path.

MLA Nagrota Bagwan Arun Kumar, while welcoming the Chief Minister said that with this machine, the long pending demand of the hospital has been fulfilled. He said that five new departments have been established in the college during the last four years. He also urged the Chief Minister to provide a multi storey parking in the Medical College. He also detailed various developmental demands of the area.

Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Sarveen Chaudhary, Industries Minister Bikram Singh , Deputy Chairman H.P. Planning Board Ramesh Dhawala, MLAs Ravinder Dhiman, Mulkhraj Premi, Vishal Nehria and Hoshiyar Singh, former MLA Surender Kaku, President Zila Parishad Ramesh Brar, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Nipun Jindal were present on the occasion among others.
