Prof PK Kalsotra assumes additional charge as Principal GMC Udhampur

Jammu: Prof (Dr) PK Kalsotra, Head of the department of ENT at Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu, has been appointed as the new Principal of Government Medical College (GMC) Udhampur. He will continue his current responsibilities while taking on his new role. 

The Health and Medical Education Department of the government of
Jammu and Kashmir
issued an order on 1sr April stating, “In the interest of administration and patient care, it is hereby ordered that Prof (Dr) PK Kalsotra, head of Department of ENT, Government Medical College, Jammu shall look after the charge of the post of principal, Government Medical College, Udhampur in addition to his own duties, in his own pay and grade, with immediate effect, till regular appointment to the post is made.” The order has been signed by the Secretary to the Government, Dr. Syed Abeed Rasheed Shah. 
Welcoming the new principal, GMC Udhampur posted on social media, stating, “GMC Udhampur faculty & staff welcome new Principal! GMC Udhampur welcomes new Principal Prof(Dr) P.K. Kalsotra. Dr Kalsotra, who is Professor and Head Department of ENT, GMC Jammu, has done his MBBS from GMC Jammu and MS ENT along with registrarship from prestigious AIIMS Delhi. He has also done DNB ENT & Head and Neck Surgery. Dr Kalsotra's appointment as Principal, GMC Udhampur, marks a significant milestone which will help the institute to grow to new heights.”  
Previously also doctors were also given additional duties in Jammu and Kashmir for the efficient working of the medical colleges. Dr Rakesh Bahl was appointed as the principal of Government Medical College (GMC) Doda last year. He took charge of the post in addition to his duties at the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu. Last year, the Administrative Council of Jammu and Kashmir approved the implementation of a 3-Tier Faculty Structure in Government Medical Colleges and Super Specialty Hospitals in both Jammu and Srinagar.
