Dr Rakesh Bahl gets additional charge of Principal GMC Doda

“In the interest of administration and patient care, Prof. (Dr.) Rakesh Bahl of the Department of Community Medicine, Government Medical College Jammu shall look after the charge of the post of Principal, Government Medical College Doda, in addition to his own duties, in his own pay and grade, with immediate effect, till regular appointment to the post is made,” reads the order.

Dr Rakesh Bahl has completed his MBBS and MD from the Government hospital in Jammu. He worked as a Medical Officer in the Border Security Force, Indian Air Force for two years. He has worked as a Senior Consultant in Community Medicine at Government Medical College, Jammu. He has been working as a professor at Government Medical College Jammu for the last two years. Previously Dr. Pooja Vimesh served as the principal of GMC Doda.

Jammu and Kashmir authority has been taking a lot of steps to ensure proper regularization of faculty posts. A few days ago, the Administrative Council of Jammu and Kashmir, chaired by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, approved the implementation of a 3-Tier Faculty Structure in Government Medical Colleges and Super Specialty Hospitals in both Jammu and Srinagar. The approved reform involves the upgrading of 287 Lecturer positions to Assistant Professors, ensuring adherence to the minimum teacher eligibility qualifications in medical institutes mandated by the NMC. This step aims to align the existing medical colleges with the newer institutions across the state.
