Dr Padmaraj Hegde becomes new Dean of Kasturba Medical College, Manipal

Udupi: Dr Padmaraj Hegde, professor, department of urology, Kasturba Medical College (KMC), Manipal has recently been appointed as the Dean of KMC, Manipal starting from January 1.

Dr Hegde also served as the medical superintendent, of Kasturba Hospital. He completed his MBBS and MS general surgery and MCh (Genito Urinary Surgery) from KMC, Manipal. He was awarded FRCS from the University of Glasgow, Scotland and also holds an MBA degree in Hospital Administration and Health Care Services.

He joined the Department of Urology, Kasturba Medical College Manipal in the year 1993 as Assistant Professor. He is serving as a Professor and Head of Unit II in the Department of Urology. He was a Deputy Medical Superindentent at Kasturba Hospital (KH), Manipal for 9 years.

He has several accomplishments including serving as the Director of, Alumni Centre, MAHE, Manipal from 2008 to 2011. He has also served as the General Secretary of the Poor Patients Relief Society of KH, Manipal. He is a life member of many professional bodies such as IMA, the Urological Society of India, the American Association of Indian Urologists, etc. 

He has to his credit 50 publications in indexed journals. He has also presented papers in several national and international conferences. He has successfully conducted several clinical study/trials.

Moreover, he held many leadership positions such as President of Manipal Hill City Junior Chamber, Vice President of the Indian Medical Association, Manipal Branch and the President of IMA, Manipal Udupi Branch.
