Karnataka: 40-year-old Orthopedic doctor succumbs to COVID

Bengaluru: In a tragic incident, a 40-years old orthopedic doctor attached to in ESI Hospital, Rajajinagar lost his battle against Coronavirus on Thursday, October 8.
He was tested positive in the last week of September and remained in home isolation for four days. The doctor was identified as Dr. V. Basavaraj, who was actively involved in the screening and treatment of COVID patients amidst the pandemic.
Dr. Basavaraj was working as an orthopedic in ESI Hospital, Rajajinagar and he was tested COVID positive in September. His condition got critical when his oxygen saturation level fell below 90%.
Firstly, he was shifted to ESI Hospital and then to a private hospital near Marathahalli that same day. A week later, he was put on ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) support in a private hospital near Sheshadripuram.
