According to a recent media report, the patient, in her complaint, alleged that she visited the doctor at his private clinic at Kalpetta for a consultation but the doctor allegedly misbehaved with her.
The doctor is quite famous in the locality and has made a few television appearances. It is still unclear whether his services have been terminated from the government hospital or if he is currently staying outside. He is not in the district and is said to be on leave for a few days. Following the complaint of the patient, a first information report was registered under the non-bailable section of the Indian Penal Code.
"We do not want to reveal too many details about the case, since it is sensitive in nature. However, the accused is now out of town. We believe he is in Ernakulam, from where he hails. We are investigating and an arrest will be recorded soon," Circle Inspector of the Kalpetta police station told The News Minute.
The officer also stated that charges under sexual abuse have been added but no offenses have been registered which fall under IPC section 375 or 376 (rape).
"We have informed the General Hospital about the case. However, we are not sure if the authorities have taken any action in the issue yet," the CI added.
