Thiruvananthapuram: Within days of the doctor getting suspended for attacking bystander, now two other doctors attached to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College have been dismissed from other services for ignoring COVID duties. The doctors allegedly did not appear in time for their COVID duties.

As per a recent media report by Kerala Kaumudi, one of them was a senior resident. The decision was taken following a stern directive from Health Minister Veena George which set rules for the COVID duties of the doctors. This is the third time within 2 months that the authorities have taken steps against its doctors for different reasons.
Recently Thiruvananthapuram Medical College has created some stir, after the video of one of its doctors went viral on social media. Previously Medical Dialogues reported that a government doctor attached to Government Medical College Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram was been suspended by the authorities after a video, in which he was allegedly misbehaving with bystanders, went viral on social media. The doctor alleged that the video was shot out of context and as a consequence, he was asked to avoid any work requiring public interaction for the next few days.
However, Kerala Medical Post Graduate Association (KMPGA) has opposed the suspension of the doctor and claimed that a proper inquiry needs to be conducted before taking any step against the doctor.
A few days before that the hospital authorities even terminated Dr. Santhosh Kumar with immediate effect from the Deputy Superintendent post ( Casualty). Dr. Santhosh Kumar was removed for various reasons including his absence during the minister's visit as well as not overseeing the functioning of his wing that day. The termination took place after the Directorate of Medical Education issued him an order for failure to appear at a surprise visit by Health Minister Veena George on October 28. In addition to this, he was charged for not supervising the activities of the wing on that day.
