Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh government has recently approved stipend hike for PG medical, SS medicos and resident doctors working in government medical colleges and hospitals across the state.

The revised stipend rates will be applicable retrospectively from April 1, 2026, according to an order issued by the Public Health and Medical Education Department on September 28, 2026. 

As per the order, postgraduate (PG) medical students in their first year will now receive a monthly stipend of Rs 81,126, up from Rs 77,662. For second-year PG students, the stipend has been increased from Rs 80,050 to Rs 83,620. Third-year PG students will receive Rs 86,118 per month.

The stipend for super-specialty students has also been revised. The students in the first, second, and third years of super-specialty courses will now receive Rs 86,118 per month.

Meanwhile, the monthly stipend of senior resident doctors has been increased from Rs 90,803 to Rs 94,853. Junior residents will now receive Rs 66,148 per month, compared to the existing stipend of Rs 63,324.

The revised rates have been determined based on a price index of 4.46, as mentioned in the government order.

"The revised stipend has been determined in accordance with the price index of 4.46, as mentioned in the order. The approval has been endorsed by the Finance Department and forwarded to the Accountant General, Gwalior," the order added.

This decision comes after a strike by junior doctors and will directly benefit the PG students, interns, and Senior and Junior Resident doctors studying in the state's government medical colleges.
