Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh has 3,052 postgraduate and super-speciality medical seats for the academic year 2026-27, according to the latest seat matrix released by the National Medical Commission (NMC).

The seats include postgraduate MD and MS courses, along with Doctorate of Medicine (DM), Master of Chirurgiae (MCh), and diploma courses across government and private medical colleges and deemed universities in the state.

As per the list, MD General Medicine has the highest number of seats with 286 seats, MS General Surgery has 279 seats, and MD Anaesthesiology has 260 seats.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that the NMC released a seat matrix showing a total of 63,177 MD, MS, Diploma, DM and MCh medical seats for the academic year 2026-27. However, the Apex Medical Commission has clarified that the seat matrix does not include seats related to applications received for an increase in the intake of existing PG courses or for the commencement of new PG courses for the academic year 2026-27.

In a detailed course-wise distribution of the 3,052 postgraduate medical seats in Madhya Pradesh, M.S. Obstetrics and Gynaecology has 219 seats, M.D. Paediatrics has 203 seats, and M.D. Pathology has 188 seats, M.D. Radio-Diagnosis/Radiology has 151 seats, M.D. Community Medicine/Social & Preventive Medicine with 134 seats, M.D. Physiology with 108 seats, M.D. Microbiology with 104 seats, M.D. Anatomy with 91 seats, and M.D. Biochemistry with 88 seats.

The list further includes M.D. Pharmacology with 81 seats, M.D. Dermatology, Venereology and Leprosy/Dermatology with 74 seats, M.D. Psychiatry with 69 seats, M.D. Forensic Medicine and Toxicology/Forensic Medicine with 60 seats, M.D. Respiratory Medicine/Tuberculosis & Respiratory Diseases with 51 seats, and M.D. Emergency Medicine with 44 seats.

Further, M.D. Radiation Oncology/Radiotherapy has 25 seats, while M.D. Immuno Haematology and Blood Transfusion has 11 seats.

Meanwhile, M.S. Orthopaedics has 171 seats, M.S. Ophthalmology has 112 seats, and M.S. Otorhinolaryngology/ENT has 98 seats.

In terms of D.M. and M.Ch. super-specialty courses. M.Ch. Neurosurgery has the highest number of seats in this category, with 29 seats, followed by D.M. Cardiology with 28 seats and M.Ch. Urology with 16 seats. D.M. Neurology has 11 seats, while D.M. Nephrology and M.Ch. Paediatric Surgery have 9 seats each.

Further, M.Ch. Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery has 8 seats, while D.M. Medical Oncology and D.M. Pulmonary Medicine have 6 seats each. D.M. Medical Gastroenterology and M.Ch. Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery have 5 seats each, while D.M. Endocrinology and M.Ch. Surgical Oncology have 4 seats each. D.M. Critical Care Medicine has 3 seats and D.M. Neuro-Anaesthesia has 2 seats.
