Gwalior: In a shocking incident, the undergraduate medical students (MBBS) pursuing their medical education at Gajra Raja Medical College (GRMC) recently had to face violence in the hands of the Police itself.

After an argument with some of the medicos, Policemen allegedly took the MBBS students staying in the hostel to the Police Station and beat them up badly.

Due to this altercation, one student has been injured badly and his tympanic membrane has been perforated, Dr. Hradeysh Dixit, the President of the Junior Doctors' Association (JDA), Madhya Pradesh, informed Medical Dialogues.

Slamming the authorities for such brutal attack the State JDA is planning to approach the Minister Vishwas Sarang and demand immediate action against the responsible officers.

The incident happened two days ago at around 2 a.m. in the night when some of the MBBS students were sitting inside their cars outside the hostel. When  Gwalior CSP officers asked them why they were roaming outside the hostel, the students allegedly replied by saying that they were not creating any nuisance.

Following this, the police officers allegedly misbehaved with the students and abused them verbally. After that, the students went back to their hostels. However, the policemen allegedly followed the students inside the hostel and continued misbehaving with them.

"At this point, the students closed the hostel doors. They barred the officers from leaving the hostel until the Dean and other officers arrive since they had entered the hostel without any permission. Following this, the officers called the entire Police Force and more than 100 policemen arrived at the hostel campus. They made the students wake up from their sleep, beat them up and took them to the Police Station. Students got badly beaten at the Police Station as well," explained Dr. Dixit.

"One of those students got injured and his tympanic membrane got perforated. Some of the students jumped from the first floor amid all the chaos and they got injured too. Many of the students did not even know for what they were facing the Police since they were sleeping. While all the students have been let off from the police station, they have been booked by the police," he added.

When asked about the reaction from the side of JDA MP, Dr. Dixit informed that the core committee of the association will go to Minister Sarang. "We want all the responsible officers get suspended and face strict action. We also demand a thorough investigation in the whole matter. If it does not happen, then we are planning for pan-MP strike."
