Pune: A 47-year-old BAMS doctor was allegedly beaten and thrashed by a Shiv Sena leader after he was allegedly spotted urinating in a parking lot that belonged to the leader.

Swargate police have now booked the accused, who is the area coordinator of Shivajinagar along with the watchman for allegedly assaulting the doctor.

The doctor, who was traveling from Latur to Pune to meet one of his patients was spotted urinating in an open space in the parking area at Swargate by the watchman. Thereafter, the leader allegedly forcefully restrained him in a shop and physically abused him. The doctor received serious injuries on his hands and foot.

As per a recent media report, the doctor has been identified as a Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) who has a clinic in Latur and he was visiting Pune on Wednesday to meet one of his patients who was admitted at Ruby Hall clinic. When he reached Swargate at around 1 p.m., he parked his car near the bus stand of Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal limited and Lakshmi Narayan theatre to go to the hospital.
Mumbai Mirror reports that according to the FIR, the doctor parked in a private pay and park area and it was owned by the Shiv Sena leader. The watchman allegedly saw the doctor urinating in the open and dragged him to the office of the leader. The leader allegedly closed the shutter and started beating him. The doctor sustained injuries in his hands and feet. During the assault, his specs got damaged and his face mask also got damaged.
Commenting on the whole incident, the doctor told the daily, " I came by Vishwas travel service with a relative of my patient and reached Swargate. I did not notice that there was a public toilet in the parking area. By mistake, I urinated in an open space that was not clean and full of garbage. The Watchmen dragged me to the office of the owner. I apologized for my mistake but he abused me. When the relative of the patient tried to intervene, they asked him to leave. The security guide and the owner beat me up with shutter down."
Thereafter, the doctor approached the police and a constable reached the place to investigate the matter. The doctor stated that he had to waste his four precious hours but he failed to attend to his patient.
The doctor filed an FIR against the Shiv Sena leader and the watchman under sections 341 (punishment for wrongfully restraining), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 427 ( mischief causing damage), 504(intentional insult), and 34 (common intention) of IPC.
The leader however denied the allegation and stated that they were only trying to keep the place clean and there were also signboards stating that urinating in public is not accepted and if anyone is spotted urinating in the open, they will have to provide a fine. The leader alleged that when they approached the doctor and told him about his mistake, he replied in an arrogant way, and also allegedly abused the leader but the leader was quite polite in his approach, reports the daily.
However, Senior police inspector Bramhanand Naikawadi stated this is not an exclusive case, previously the leader also physically assaulted another person for urinating in the open space of his parking area. He added, "Last month, too, we had received several complaints of the accused physically assaulting people for urinating in the open the Investigation is on."
