Dr Rakesh Barot takes charge as new dean of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital, Kalwa
Thane: Dr Rakesh Barot has been appointed as the new Dean of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital (CSMH), Kalwa. After the authorities suspended Dr Yogesh Sharma, the post remained vacant for some time.
He currently serves as the professor and Head of Ophthalmology RGMC and CSMH, Kalwa Thane. Dr Barot has been working with the Kalwa hospital for several years. He also teaches at Rajiv Gandhi Medical College, attached to the hospital. He has a strong academic background and expertise in training MBBS students and Ophthalmology residents for the last 25 years. He has expertise in performing basic and advanced phaco emulsification, manual SICS, external DCR, and pterygium surgeries. He has more than 25 PubMed-indexed, peer-reviewed publications.

He took an advanced course on Medical Education from the Medical Council of India Nodal Centre for Faculty Development, Seth GS Medical College and KEM Hospital. He pursued a Master in Surgery under Ophthalmology Residency Program at TN Medical College and BYL Nair Hospital. Dr Barot will hold the additional charge as the medical health officer of the public health department of the corporation, reports the Hindustan Times.
