Maharashtra: A Doctor and an IAS officer, Dr Sanjay Mukherjee recently took over as the new Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of City and Industrial Corporation (CIDCO) from outgoing Lokesh Chandra.

He was till recently serving as the secretary at Medical Education, Food and Drug Administration, and Department of Cultural Affairs, Maharashtra. He was appointed as the secretary in October 2018 and has served as the secretary for almost two years now. 

He has a glorious educational background. A 1996 batch IAS officer of Maharashtra, Dr. Mukherjee hails from Nagpur and has secured his Bachelor's Degree in Surgery from Nagpur Government Medical College. He has also completed a short term course on Public Finance from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. He pursued the course of a Chartered Financial Analyst in Finance from the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India. He has also pursued a short term course on Public Administration and Finance from Toronto University as well.
Dr Mukherjee has a rich experience of serving as a public servant and has contributed to many of the projects of the government. He has been appointed as the Additional Municipal Commissioner for Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai for 5 years. He has previously served as the Commissioner at Maharashtra State Excise Department and as the Joint Managing Director at Maharashtra Airport Development Company.
The doctor has also served as the Chairman of Nagpur improvement trust and the Collector and District magistrate of Nagpur for three years. He has worked as the Additional Municipal Commissioner of Nagpur and as the Collector and District Magistrate of Jalgaon. He has been appointed as the Assistant Collector and Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Dahanu for 1 year. He has served as the Assistant Collector for the Government of India in Mussoorie. 
TOI reports that he accepted his new position from outgoing head Lokesh Chandra at CIDCO's Nirmal Bhavan officer building in the presence of the Joint Managing Directors Ashwin Mudgal, Dr. Prashant Narnavare and Ashok Singhare and chief vigilance officer Nisha Tamboli.
