Maha: Hospital ward boy allegedly gropes patient on pretext of applying medicine, arrested

Mumbai: A 25-year-old ward boy at a private hospital in Mumbai was arrested for allegedly molesting a female patient by groping her private parts on the pretext of applying medicine.

The accused has now been arrested by police.

As per a recent Times of India report, a 29-year-old woman was admitted to a hospital in Malad East for surgery on December 16. The accused allegedly groped the patient on the pretext of applying medicine on her body on the night of December 17.

The next day, the woman, who was recuperating from surgery narrated the incident to her family. The family complained to the authorities and questioned how a ward boy was allowed unrestricted access to the woman's room late at night.

As per ANI, after getting discharged from the hospital, the woman filed an FIR against him.

"Accused touched the woman's private parts on the pretext of applying medicine. We have registered an FIR and taken the accused into custody," a police official said.

The accused has been booked under Section 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), reports TOI.
