HMPV Virus Cases: Mizoram forms Committee to address rising concerns
Aizawl: The Mizoram government has formed a Core Committee as a proactive measure in response to the rising concerns over Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) cases in India. The committee was set up following a meeting chaired by Health Minister Lalrinpuii on Tuesday, aimed at monitoring and controlling the spread of the virus.
Rapid Response Teams have also been set up at the state and district levels, officials from the health department confirmed on Tuesday.
According to a UNI report, the decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Lalrinpuii on Monday evening. According to officials, the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) is closely monitoring the situation, and no unusual increase in Influenza-Like Illness (ILI) or Severe Acute Respiratory Illness (SARI) cases has been observed in the state so far.
The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and its affiliated laboratories have similarly reported no surge in cases of adenovirus, HMPV, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), or related diseases in recent months, officials added.
