Punjab Health Minister inaugurates 100-bed hospital in Mohali

Mohali: Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu has inaugurated a 100-bed temporary hospital in Phase VI under the state medical college, B R Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences on Saturday.

Besides the 100 bed facility, 9 other services and projects have also been virtually initiated by the government.

As per Sidhu, the temporary hospital would be especially beneficial in catering to the healthcare needs of people amid the possibility of a probable third wave. The project would cost Rs5.67 crore and would include eight ICU bed (level 2 and level 3 care), he added.
The minister has shared snippets of the new facility on social media stating, " On the occasion of 75th Independence Day, the Department of Medical Education and Research inaugurated a 100-bed temporary hospital at Phase-6, Mohali dedicated to the people of the state."
According to a recent media report in The Tribune, with the creation of the new services, one will now be able to access information about birth and death through an online portal and will get the certificates through private hospitals. The other newly introduced services include starting attestation of testimonials by the NRI cell through Sewa Kendras, facility of web portal for obtaining info under the RTI Act, inaugurating new IT block building at Shaheed Major Harminderpal Singh Government College for Rs183.87 lakh and so on.The Minister further stated that Mohali is speedily progressing to assume position as a frontline city on the global map, especially in terms of infrastructure. The city had an excellent boon of connectivity and a strong road network along with high quality health and educational facilities which is attracting many multinational companies to set up business in Mohali.

Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan and SSP Satinder Singh, ADC (G) Komal Mittal, ADC (D) Himanshu Aggarwal, Govt Medical College Director-Principal Dr Bhavneet Bharti, Civil Surgeon Adarshpal Kaur, Medical Superintendent Dr Navdeep Singh and Chattbir zoo Director Naresh Mahajan graced the occasion with their presence.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that the Behlolpur and Jujharnagar Panchayats had handed over the possession of 10.4 acres of land for the construction of the building of Dr B R Ambedkar Medical College, Mohali on June. The foundation stone of the boundary wall of Dr. BR Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS) SAS Nagar was laid down by Medical Education Minister in June.
