21 year old Jharkhand NEET aspirant found dead in Kota

Kota: In an unfortunate incident, a 21-year-old National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET) aspirant allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling in his hostel room in the Coral Park area of Rajasthan's Kota.

The student, a resident of Jharkhand, had been preparing for NEET at a private coaching institute for the past one year. He was staying at Goyal Residency Hostel, where he was found hanging from the ceiling in his room.

The incident took place around 7:00 PM on Friday in the Coral Park area under the Borkheda police station limits, as per the Udaipur Kiran Report.

When the police were informed about the incident, they reached the spot and inspected his room. No suicide note was recovered from the room. They took custody of the body and shifted it to the postmortem room at MBS Hospital.

While the exact reason behind the aspirant's death is unknown, police said that the exact time and cause will be confirmed only after the postmortem report. They have sealed the room, and an investigation is underway. 

Speaking to TOI, Circle inspector Anil Tailor said, "The body was shifted to the mortuary and the family has been informed. The postmortem will be conducted after their arrival."

Meanwhile, reacting to the incident, a doctor highlighted concerns about student pressure in Kota. In a post on social media platform X, the doctor said, "Sending students to Kota may not be the best option!! Online coaching can be a safer and more balanced alternative. The environment in Kota has increasingly been criticized as toxic, with intense pressure and commercial interests contributing to distress among students, sometimes with tragic consequences."

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that an 18-year-old NEET aspirant died by suicide at her rented accommodation in the Dadabari police station area in Kota. The girl reportedly consumed a poisonous substance in her room, after which she began vomiting. She was taken to the New Medical College hospital but died during treatment.
