Rajasthan Medical Officer Recruitment: Doctors Threaten to Intensify Protest if Exam Dates Not Declared by Next Week
Jaipur: Further intensifying the protest and increasing pressure on the Rajasthan Government, hundreds of doctors in Rajasthan gheraoed the Swasthya Bhawan in Jaipur over the delay in the Medical Officer Recruitment Exam 2024.
Submitting a memorandum to the Vice Chancellor of Rajasthan University of Health Sciences, the doctors under the All Rajasthan MBBS Doctors Association have given a deadline of January 20 to release the new exam date, warning to gherao the RUHS University if the date is not released by then.
Hundreds of Doctors under the banner of the United Doctors' Front (UDF) also joined the protest at Swasthya Bhawan, expressing their frustration over repeated delays in the Medical Officer Recruitment Exam 2024. Under the guidance of Dr. Lakshya Mittal, National President of UDF, the protest was led by Dr. Bharat Pareek, Rajasthan State President, along with Dr. Vikas Milki, State General Secretary.
The demonstration continued until senior officials, including the Health Minister and the Director of Health, engaged in discussions with the protesting doctors. UDF has warned the authorities to further intensify the movement if the exam date is not released at the earliest.
Apart from the immediate release of the exam date, the doctors are also demanding the authorities to ensure transparency, and increase the number of posts of Medical Officers.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that highlighting the shortage of doctors in State Government facilities, including primary healthcare centres, Rajasthan doctors had urged the Government to increase the number of medical officer posts. Further, the All Rajasthan MBBS Doctors' Association pointed out how the officers leave their posts after being selected for PG medical education.

Therefore, earlier the Association had urged the Government to fill up the vacant posts after completing the NEET PG counselling. Now, it is expected that the PG medical admission process will conclude by the third week of January. Amid this, the association recently approached the RUHS demanding an immediate release of the MO Recruitment 2024 Exam date. Previously, the doctors had warned to initiate a mass protest if their demands were not met by January 7th.
Since the University is yet to declare the exam date, hundreds of doctors under All Rajasthan MBBS Doctors Association and UDF gheraoed the Health Building in Jaipur and submitted a memorandum to the Ministry of Health and discussed with the Vice Chancellor of RUHS University regarding the new exam date
Doctors under the leadership of Dr. Vinod Bagra, State President of All Rajasthan MBBS Doctors Association, gave an ultimatum to the government till January 18, warning that if the solution is not found soon, the movement would intensify.
State President Dr. Vinod Bagda said that almost 2 months have passed since the postponement of the Medical Officer Recruitment to be held on November 17 and the counseling of NEET PG 2024 is also going to be completed soon by January 20, but the new exam date has not been announced yet, so all the candidates appearing for the exam are very mentally disturbed! Even before this, we have given a memorandum to the Vice Chancellor and Registrar of RUHS University 2 to 3 times regarding the announcement of the exam date, but there is no response yet, he explained.
Also, State President Dr. Vinod Bagda told that yesterday all the unemployed doctors gathered at the Health Bhawan and gave a memorandum to Health Director Dr. Ravi Prakash Mathur regarding the new exam date, after that they went to the Medical Minister's residence and informed Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khimshar about the announcement of the exam date and gave a memorandum, mentioned a release.
And finally all the unemployed doctors met the Vice Chancellor of RUHS University Dr. Dhanjay Agarwal and put forth their point. Dr Bagra questioned the VC regarding the reason of delay, the reason for not announcing the exam date, the reason for RUHS's inability to announce the exam date in two months etc.
After discussing the issue with the doctors, the VC Dr. Agarwal assured the doctors that by 17th January a meeting would be held to decide on the new exam date and the same would be announced by 17th January, 2024.
However, the doctors are not satisfied only with such an assurance and they have warned to intensify the movement and surround RUHS University if the new date is not announced by 20th January 2024.
Meanwhile, UDF has also extended its support to the Rajasthan doctors. They demanded that a new date for the Medical Officer Recruitment Exam must be declared by January 20, 2025. Further, the association has urged the Government to increase the current number of advertised posts (3,000) to accommodate more qualified doctors. They are also demanding that the recruitment process must be made fair, transparent, and free from delays.
