Rajasthan- Medical students have reportedly raised serious concerns about the lack of infrastructure at the newly established Tonk Medical College in Rajasthan. Along with this, doctors have alleged that there are no classrooms and faculty interviews are being conducted in metal containers.

Describing the ground reality of the medical college to Careers360, the medicos alleged that the interviews were conducted in an iron railway container with no network access.

All the doctors were reportedly shocked to have to interview in a college that had neither a single room nor any other facilities.

While speaking on the condition of anonymity, a medical officer told Careers360 that interviews were held for assistant professors in several departments, primarily for ENT, psychiatry, paediatrics, forensics, pathology, and anaesthesia. "The medical college lacked any on-ground facilities; not even a single room in the college building was operational for conducting interviews. Interviews were conducted in temporary cabins built in iron containers," the officer said.

Apart from this, the doctors also questioned how NMC had granted accreditation without staff, buildings, faculty, electricity, water, and a physical inspection. In addition, the admission process for MBBS students has also begun. They questioned whether the quality of doctors graduating from such colleges would be dangerous for society.

Meanwhile, Health Activist Dr Rohan Krishnan, called it "dying healthcare of the country." He shared a post on the social media platform "X" (formerly known as Twitter), “This is the world-class building of Tonk Medical College, Rajasthan. A state-of-the-art medical College, Rajasthan. A state-of-the-art medical college, granted permission to run an MBBS course from this year itself! NMC should at least open their eyes and inspect a few colleges rather than doing online inspections all the time. JP Nadda has zero time for the ministry. NMC stands as the pillar of corruption and ignorance in the medical community”.
