Chennai: The MBBS aspirant who allegedly submitted a fake NEET scorecard for securing a medical seat has finally been arrested by the Chennai Police on Monday while her dentist father was already in custody in the case.

Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that the medical aspirant allegedly submitted a fake NEET scorecard that displayed her scoring 610 marks while she actually scored only 27.

The forgery came to light when the father and daughter duo had turned up for MBBS admission counseling session and produced a 'call letter' for counseling and a 'NEET mark sheet' that showed a score of 610.

On scrutiny, medical admission authorities found that her name did not figure either in the rank chart or call list for counseling.

It was found that the MBBS aspirant had a score of 27 but submitted a forged NEET 2020 (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) scorecard and similarly, the call letter too was a fake. Based on a complaint from authorities, police had launched a search and arrested the dentist.

The dentist, hailing from Paramakudi in Ramanathapuram district was arrested and produced before a court that remanded him to judicial custody on Friday.

As per the latest report by the Times of India, now the MBBS aspirant had been staying securely in a hotel room along with her family members in the city.

TOI further adds that the candidate has finally been arrested based on the complaint of an additional director of medical education and secretary of selection committee Dr G Selvarajan. She had been taken into judicial custody.

An FIR was registered under sections 419 (Punishment for cheating by personation), 420 (Cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 464 (Making a false document), 465 (Forgery), 468 (Forgery for the purpose of cheating), and 471 (Using as genuine a forged document) of the Indian Penal Code.
