Coimbatore: The Singanallur police has booked two fraudsters who duped two siblings of Rs 15 lakh on the pretext of providing government jobs to them. The duo has been identified as a woman named K Dhanya aged 39 posing as a doctor with the ESI Hospital, Singanallur and the other is her driver N Pradeep aged 22.

According to a police officer, Danya who is a resident of the Thrissur district in Kerala was staying in a rental flat at Singanallur and Pradeep is a resident of Sulur.

The incident took place in November last year when a man named P Murugan aged 25, a resident of SLS Nagar at Sulur, finished his mechanical engineering and was in a search of government jobs. Pradeep being a close friend to Murugan told him that his employer was a lady doctor with the ESI Hospital and she could get him a government job with her connections with senior government officials, said the officer.

By trusting his closest friend, Murugan requested Pradeep to provide him an Human Resources (HR) post at the ESI hospital and for his younger brother named Vellapandi, a clerk position.

Hearing this out, Pradeep took both the siblings to Dhanya's flat. The officer told TOI that "Dhanya told them she was working as a doctor at the emergency ward of the ESI Hospital for the past 10 years and demanded 15 lakh to get jobs for them. Murugan paid her 5 lakh on November 28, 2021 and another 8 lakh the next day at her residence. After receiving the money, Dhanya promised him to get the jobs soon."

Dhanya contacted Murugan on February 11, 2022, and asked him to deposit the remaining 2 lakh in her bank account, according to the officer. The officer stated that while Murugan deposited the funds to her account, Dhanya had not responded to their jobs.

"When he asked Dhanya to arrange them government jobs or return the amount, she told him that she knew the district collector and superintendent of police in person and threatened to lodge a case against him," the officer said.
