TN: Private medical college manager assaulted by 2 Real estate agents, duo arrested

Coimbatore: The manager of Karpagam Medical College at Othakkalmandapam was allegedly physically assaulted by two real estate agents after he tried to confront them about spreading fake news regarding the selling of the institution at Othakkalmandam for Rs 1650 crores.

In order to confront the accused, the manager of the private medical college called the duo impersonating as a potential buyer and confronted them. As per a recent media report, the duo became angry at the manager and allegedly assaulted him.

Chettipalayam police have identified the accused and arrested them under IPC 294 (b) (sings, recites or utters any obscene song, ballad or words, in or near any public place), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), and 506(i) (criminal intimidation).

The accused have been identified as a 49-year-old resident of BR Puram at Peelamedu, and a 54-year-old resident of NGGO Colony at Thudiyalur. The manager lodged a complaint against the duo and alleged that he received queries from some relators from Pollachi and Dindigul asking him whether the medical college in on sale.
After this, the manager subsequently contacted the realtors over the phone, and impersonated as a prospective buyer, and asked them to meet him. Times of India reports that according to the complaint, during his conversation with the other realtors, " the manager came to know that the duo had circulated a message among the realtors that the medical college was up for sale and they had fixed a price of Rs 1,650 crore."
Elaborating on the complaint of the manager, the officer stated, " The duo invited him to JJ Nagar at Chettipalayam. The manager along with two others met the realtors on Thursday afternoon and questioned them for spreading the false message. In a fit of rage, the duo assaulted the manager and threatened him of dire consequences." On Friday, the two were produced before a judicial magistrate and were remanded in judicial custody.
