Allopathy without required qualifications: Telangana medical council raids expose illegal medical practice at 4 Hyderabad clinics

Hyderabad: In its ongoing drive against illegal medical practice, the Telangana Medical Council (TGMC) identified four clinics in Alwal where unqualified medical professionals were allegedly practising modern medicine without the required qualifications, registration or legal authorisation.

During a surprise inspection conducted by the team comprising Gundagani Srinivas and Imran, it was found that illegal medical treatment was reportedly being carried out at four clinics, including Shankara Shashank Clinic, Sri Sai Poly Clinic, Komal Clinic and Shebha Clinic.

The TGMC alleged that the unauthorised practitioners were administering steroids, antibiotics, painkiller injections and other prescription medicines indiscriminately.

At Shankara Shashanka Clinic, the council inspection team found a medical graduate allegedly practising allopathy without valid registration and without clearing the Foreign Medical Graduate (FMG) examination. 

At Sri Sai Poly Clinic, G Janaki Ramulu, a physiotherapist, was allegedly prescribing allopathic medicines beyond the scope of his authorised practice.

The inspections also identified a quack of Komal Clinic, who was allegedly providing allopathy treatment without the required qualifications and legal authorisation, and another of Shebha Clinic, who was also allegedly practising modern medicine without the necessary medical qualifications. 

It warned that such practices could result in kidney damage, contribute to antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and endanger patients’ lives, reports The Hindu.

Based on the findings, the council said it would initiate legal action against the fake practitioners for allegedly providing allopathic treatment and violating provisions of the National Medical Commission (NMC) Act and the Telangana Medical Practitioners Registration (TMPR) Act.

Medical Dialogues had reported earlier that the council raided three allopathic clinics in Saidabad and Singareni Colony on Friday, exposing practitioners who were allegedly practising allopathic medicine illegally and displaying false qualifications. The surprise inspections, conducted on June 26, identified three clinics—Srinivasa Medical and General Clinic, Hanumant Nayak Clinic, and DRK Clinic—allegedly operating in violation of medical regulations.
