Lucknow: A senior faculty at the renowned King George's Medical University (KGMU) has been booked for allegedly taking bribe of Rs 25 lakh from the contractual staff members working at the institute. The doctor allegedly duped them of the amount under the pretext of providing them permanent jobs at KGMU.

In their complaint, the staff alleged that the doctor attached to the critical care unit of the hospital demanded Rs. 25 Lakh from them in the year 2016. They informed the police that they have already given Rs 23 lakh to the senior doctor but only 8 out of 11 names were forwarded for permanent postings. However, none of them got the job.

"When we asked for our money, the doctor returned only Rs five lakh" they further informed.

On the basis of the complaint filed by them, the police lodged an FIR against the doctor under Sections 406 (Punishment for criminal breach of trust)and 420 (Cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), reports HT. The probe has been launched in the matter.

 The complainants demanded that a case should be registered against the doctor and Rs. 18,000 should be given to them, adds ANI

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported about a similar case wherein a doctor couple from Kalyan in Maharashtra's Thane district was booked for allegedly cheating a hotelier of Rs 1.52 crore. The doctors had taken Rs 1.52 crore loan from hotelier YA Mangutkar between November 2016 and June 2019 to buy land and medical equipment and had offered four galas as the mortgage. However, the couple sold the four galas without the complainant's knowledge and also refused to repay the loan, it was alleged.
