MBBS student threatened on road near Basti's medical college

Basti: An MBBS student was allegedly stopped and threatened by two unidentified persons on the road near a medical college in Basti. The medical college principal has filed a complaint at the Munderwa police station in connection with the case.

As per a local media report, the student was allegedly abused on the road, and when he objected, they allegedly threatened to kill him.

According to the complaint submitted by the college principal, Dr Kumar, the incident took place on April 21, when the student went to OPEC Hospital in Kaili. Around 9:30 pm, while returning to the medical college in Rampur on his bike, he was reportedly stopped near a flyover by two individuals.

The accused allegedly started abusing the student. When he objected, they reportedly threatened to kill him. The student then managed to leave the spot and safely reached the college, where he informed the authorities about the incident, reports Live Hindustan. 

Following this, the college principal, Dr Kumar, filed a complaint at the Munderwa police station. Based on the complaint, the police have registered a case against one accused, identified as Shadab, and another unidentified person.

Police officials said that an investigation has been initiated, and the matter has been handed over to Sub-Inspector Pramod Kumar Nayak for further probe.

The family members of the deceased alleged that their son was a victim of ragging. They claimed that due to constant harassment, their son may have taken the extreme step.
