Dr Jyotirmoy Pal appointed President-elect of Association of Physicians of India

Dr. Pal also emphasized the critical importance of the doctor-patient relationship, advocating for a 3E approach: education, empathy, and ethics. He stressed the need for improved communication, humility, and community involvement to strengthen trust between healthcare providers and patients. "The role of doctors is evolving. From being seen as friends and service providers, it is now shifting towards a corporate-client dynamic, which we must navigate with care and take steps to ensure that the relationship between patient and doctor is based on trust," he stated.

Dr. Pal further highlighted the advancements in the fellowship programs under the Indian College of Physicians. He shared his recent experiences at international conferences and talked about the ongoing efforts to open Indian fellowship opportunities to foreign physicians. A draft for the necessary constitutional amendments is under review, with formalities expected to be completed soon. “Now even India is getting recognition worldwide. Foreigners also seek invitations to Indian conferences like APICON. I, as the president of API, would like to take new initiatives to popularize Indian research as much as possible.”
