Kolkata: Senior Ophthalmologist succumbs to COVID
West Bengal: With the increasing number of health workers succumbing to COVID, yet another tragic incident of a doctor's passing away due to COVID was recently reported on Thursday. The doctor was a reportedly Kolkata based senior ophthalmologist who worked for a hospital in Howrah. This became the third case in Kolkata where a doctor succumbed to COVID.
According to a recent media report by TOI, the doctor was 64 years old and he was attending the patients the hospital amid the outbreak. One day, he suddenly started developing symptoms of respiratory trouble and breathlessness and was rushed to the nearest hospital.
First, he was admitted to West Bank Hospital in Howrah where along with respiratory problems, he was showing symptoms of cardiac troubles. When the first COVID test was conducted on him, it showed negative. After that, he was receiving treatment in the hospital. Then a second test was conducted where the result came COVID positive.
