Stressing on Right to health; MP CM calls for direct recruitment of specialists in Govt Hospitals

Bhopal: With the objective of enhancing well-being, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath has recently instructed direct recruitment of specialists in government infirmaries, it was officially learnt.

“The populace enjoys a right to good health, therefore, all policy initiatives must focus on that. In the interest of patients – especially those from rural areas – consultation timings in government hospitals should be fixed as 0900-1600 hrs and diagnostic centres set up on the premises with private sector collaboration.

Improved coordination is required between the departments of Medical Education and Public Health and Family Welfare. Authorities must make special endeavours to secure maximum healthcare funds under Corporate Social Responsibility,” he averred while reviewing the Public Health Department’s activities at Mantralaya.

Well-designed initiatives ought to be taken for improving indicators, reducing maternal and infant mortality should be accorded foremost priority, faculty positions in private nursing colleges plus the availability of doctors and expert services ensured, the Chief Minister said, adding that continued upgrading of facilities is imperative for achieving the status of healthy Madhya Pradesh. Earlier, Medical Dialogues had reported that a controversy had sparked in Punjab after the State Medical Education Department initiated the recruitment process where it claimed few doctors to be ineligible for faculty posts.

According to a recent media report, the department started the process of recruitment to hire 100 senior doctors and medical faculty for three government colleges in the state. The department issued the eligibility for the posts of professor, associate professor and an assistant professor wherein the candidates needed to hold at least three-years experience from recognized PG medical college.

30 doctors in Faridkot’s Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital, who intended to apply for the respective posts, were considered ineligible for the post.
