New Delhi: The Union Health Ministry has handed over the charge of the country's tuberculosis control programme to the head of HIV/AIDS control organisation.
"With a view to accelerate Government's determination and commitment to eliminate Tuberculosis in the country by 2025 and to bring out focused implementation of National Strategic Plan (NSP) in a dedicated manner, it has been decided that the Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme (RNTCP) hitherto handled in Directorate General of Health Services will be placed under the Department of Health & Family Welfare of this Ministry with immediate effect," the order stated
Accordingly, the following orders are issued with immediate effect:
(i) The Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme (RNTCP) is transferred from DGHS and placed under the Additional Secretary & Director General (AS&DG) (NACO);
(ii) Consequently, Additional Secretary & Director General (AS&DG) (NACO) is re. designated as Additional Secretary & Director General (AS&DG) (NACO & RNTCP) AS&DG will exercise the same powers over RNTCP which are already delegated to him
