Cyber Cell of Rachakonda police have arrested a techy for harassing a doctor and his friends by posting their fake profiles in gay website.

On credible information, police arrested Suresh Thummal (29), a technical leader in a software company and a resident of Bachupally, Ranga Reddy yesterday, police said.

A complaint was lodged by reputed surgeon in the city on November 29 and stated that someone has created his fake profiles by attaching his real pictures copied from his Facebook account and posted the fake profile in various gay websites along with his personal phone number. Since, then his life became miserable as he was getting 40 to 50 calls a day from bisexuals seeking appointments for meeting.

Accordingly a case has been registered into the matter. During the investigation it was revealed that, several petitions were pending against him for doing so but due to social stigma none of them requested for legal action, but asked for remedy by taking steps to remove their profiles from the gay websites.

While interrogation, he confessed that, due to failure in his marital life he started indulging himself in gay activities and with the help of his two friends he used to browse the Facebook profiles where he select the target randomly and collects their contact details from their friends list. After that, they create fake profiles of the targeted persons by linking their original photographs and post them in various gay websites, police said.

The accused also called victims and enquired whether they are interested in gay activities. He also post comments about the targeted person in the Facebook wall of his contacts stating that, he (victim) was gay.

The accused was produced before the XVI MM Court at Miyapur and remanded to judicial custody, police added.
