In addition, an OPD of the AIIMS has started functioning in Gorakhpur and Rai Bareli.

He said that super speciality blocks are ready in Meerut, Paryagraj and Jhansi.

The work of the new block of the GSVM medical college will get completed in a stipulated deadline, he said.

Admitting that there is a deficiency of doctors in rural areas, the chief minister said the doctors who are posted there do not want to stay.

Under the PM health safety scheme, 13 new medical colleges in the state are being established with the help of the central government since 2014, Adityanath said, adding that his government was constructing two medical colleges on its own.

Super speciality hospitals have been set up in Allahabad and Jhansi and construction work of such facilities have started in Agra and Kanpur.

On escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, the chief minister attacked the cowardly actions of the neighbouring nation.

Addressing the gathering, Union Minister for Science and Technology Harsh Vardhan said this medical college is the best in Asia and will be given the status of AIIMS in the future.
