Ayurveda doctors' association urges Kerala Govt to secure proposed AIIA

All India Institute of Ayurveda
Kerala has been invited to participate in the selection process for one of three proposed All India Institutes of Ayurveda (AIIAs) of national importance. The Ayurveda Medical Association of India has urged the state government to submit a strong proposal, citing Kerala's Ayurveda heritage and public health infrastructure.
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala has been presented with an opportunity to host a new All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), with the state invited to compete for one of three proposed institutes of national importance. The Ayurveda Medical Association of India (AMAI) Kerala State Committee has urged the state government to act swiftly and take immediate steps to secure the project.
The participation follows the state receiving an official invitation to take part in the process for establishing three new AIIAs across the country. The association has called on the state government to use its established Ayurveda tradition and existing public health infrastructure to strengthen its bid for the proposed institute.

The selection process will assess participating states on parameters including land availability, infrastructure, government commitment and execution capability. States seeking to establish the institutes are required to meet these criteria as part of the evaluation process, reports The New India Express.
The Ministry has also directed participating states to appoint a nodal officer who will coordinate the process and ensure submission of the required proposal. The designated officer will serve as the point of coordination for Kerala’s participation in the selection exercise.
The proposed AIIA campuses will be modelled on the existing flagship All India Institute of Ayurveda in New Delhi. The planned institutions are expected to be developed as premier centres associated with Ayurveda education, healthcare and research.
AMAI state president Dr K S Vishnu Namboothiri and general secretary Dr P K Haridas, in a joint statement, said Kerala’s longstanding Ayurveda heritage gives the state a strong basis to pursue the project. They urged the government to take timely steps to meet the requirements of the selection process.
The association also highlighted the potential significance of establishing an AIIA with advanced research facilities in Kerala. It said the proposed institution could contribute to strengthening public health services while supporting the development of Ayurveda research.
