CCRAS launches 3 key initiatives to enhance evidence-based Ayurveda research

New Delhi: Marking a significant push for evidence-based Ayurveda research, the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) unveiled three major initiatives aimed at strengthening research methodology, scientific writing and digital transformation during its fifth Executive Committee meeting held on July 3, 2026, in New Delhi.

The meeting was chaired by Shri Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of AYUSH.

According to a PIB statement, the Council launched three key initiatives during the meeting: a Research Methodology textbook under the Ayurved Prabodhini Granthamala series, the launch of the Expression of Interest (EoI) for CCRAS PRAYATNA 2026-27, and the CCRAS Digital Ecosystem Dashboard. The initiatives are aimed at strengthening research capacity, scientific communication and digital access across the Ayurveda research ecosystem.

The Research Methodology textbook has been authored by 50 research scientists and faculty members in accordance with the Outcome-Based Dynamic Curriculum prescribed by the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) for postgraduate and doctoral Ayush education. The publication is intended to strengthen research methodology, scientific thinking and evidence-based research competencies among MD, MS and PhD scholars.

The Council also launched the Expression of Interest (EoI) for CCRAS PRAYATNA 2026-27, its flagship programme to encourage scientific writing among postgraduate and PhD scholars in Ayurveda. During the event, the official poster of the initiative was unveiled.

The programme aims to enhance scientific writing and publication skills through structured institution-based workshops, with the objective of fostering a stronger research culture among young Ayurveda researchers.

Another key launch was the CCRAS Digital Ecosystem Dashboard, an integrated platform that brings together the Council's web-based resources to improve accessibility, transparency and public outreach while facilitating wider dissemination of research outputs and institutional resources.

During the meeting, Shri Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha commended CCRAS for its contributions to evidence-based Ayurveda research, education and public health. He also highlighted the Council's recent achievements, including 21 NABH and NABL accreditations across its institutes, the establishment of the Ayush Diksha platform, international collaborative research initiatives and a large-scale study on anaemia among adolescent girls.

CCRAS Director General Prof. (Vaidya) Rabinarayan Acharya, who also serves as Member Secretary of the Executive Committee, welcomed members of the newly reconstituted Executive Committee, presented the meeting agenda and outlined the Council's recent achievements. He said the organisation remains committed to strengthening a globally respected, evidence-based Ayurveda research ecosystem through scientific research, institutional excellence, digital transformation, international collaboration and capacity building. Senior officials from the Ministry of Ayush, CCRAS and other Executive Committee members attended the meeting.
