Darbhanga to get 50-bed integrated AYUSH Hospital soon

AYUSH Hospital
Darbhanga is set to get a 50- bed Integrated AYUSH Hospital, with the Union AYUSH Ministry confirming that the Bihar Government will soon initiate construction through its infrastructure corporation.
Darbhanga: Darbhanga is set for a major boost to its AYUSH healthcare infrastructure, with the Union Ministry of AYUSH stating that the construction of a 50-bed Integrated AYUSH Hospital will begin soon through a state-led initiative.
The announcement came in response to a starred question raised in the Lok Sabha by Darbhanga MP and BJP Whip in Lok Sabha Dr. Gopal Ji Thakur, paving the way for the long-awaited project.
In its response, the Ministry of AYUSH informed Parliament that the Bihar Government would initiate the construction of the integrated hospital through the Bihar Medical Services and Infrastructure Corporation. The project is expected to strengthen AYUSH healthcare infrastructure in the district by expanding access to traditional systems of medicine.

The Ministry also shared details of the existing AYUSH network in Darbhanga. According to its reply, the district currently has 35 Ayushman Mandirs, six AYUSH hospitals, one district integrated dispensary, and one Ayurveda Medical College operating under the AYUSH system, reports Live Hindustan.
In addition to raising the issue in Parliament, Dr Thakur also met Union Minister of State for AYUSH Shri Prataprao Jadhav at the Ministry's office in Parliament House. During the meeting, he discussed the proposed hospital as well as the modernisation of AYUSH dispensaries functioning in the district under the Ministry of AYUSH.
The discussions also covered measures to strengthen and promote India's traditional systems of medicine, including Ayurveda, Yoga, Homoeopathy, and Unani, across Darbhanga and the Mithila region.
Highlighting the importance of the project, Dr Thakur said the proposed 50-bed hospital would improve access to AYUSH healthcare for people living in hundreds of villages across the district. He said the facility would enable residents to receive treatment through Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, Unani and other traditional systems closer to their homes.
The proposed hospital will add to Darbhanga's existing AYUSH infrastructure, which already includes multiple healthcare institutions and educational facilities. With the Centre confirming that the Bihar Government will take up the project through its infrastructure corporation, the construction of the new integrated hospital is expected to further strengthen the district's public AYUSH healthcare network.
