Intern doctors accuse AYUSH doctor of harassment at Beawar hospital, inquiry ordered
Beawar: A group of intern doctors at Amritkaur Hospital in Rajasthan's Beawar district has accused an AYUSH doctor of inappropriate behaviour and mental harassment, following which hospital authorities have constituted an inquiry committee to investigate the allegations.
According to hospital officials, 63 male and female intern doctors working at the hospital staged a protest on Wednesday against the AYUSH doctor. The interns had earlier submitted a written complaint to the Principal Medical Officer and later informed the local police about the matter. However, no formal police complaint has been registered so far, reports Dainik Bhaskar.
The protesting interns gathered outside the PMO office and raised slogans demanding action against the doctor. In their joint complaint, the interns alleged that female interns were subjected to inappropriate behaviour during duty hours in the outpatient department. They further claimed that objectionable messages were sent to some interns and that repeated comments and conduct caused mental distress.

The complainants further alleged that interns who objected to such behaviour were threatened with adverse attendance records and damage to their professional careers. According to the interns, the issue had been ongoing for a considerable period and had affected the hospital's working environment.
Taking serious note of the allegations, the PMO constituted a five-member committee to conduct an impartial inquiry into the matter. Hospital authorities said further action would be taken after the committee submits its report. The report will also be forwarded to the concerned department for review.
Meanwhile, the AYUSH doctor denied all allegations levelled against him and described them as baseless. He claimed that some interns had been irregular in maintaining attendance records and alleged that the accusations surfaced after the matter was reported to senior authorities. He further alleged that the interns were acting collectively against him in retaliation, reports The Daily.
