Kashipur Ayurvedic Clinic sealed for allegedly selling allopathic medicines

Kashipur: An Ayurvedic clinic in Kashipur, Uttarakhand, was sealed by authorities following allegations that it was selling allopathic medicines without the required licence. The action was taken after a complaint that prompted an inspection by officials from the Ayush Department and the local administration.
According to officials, the raid was conducted at a centre located in the Laxmipur Patti. The inspection was carried out by District Ayurvedic Officer Dr. Alok Kumar Shukla in the presence of Sub-Divisional Magistrate Mr. Abhay Pratap Singh, Tehsildar Mr. Pankaj Chandola and police personnel, reports Amar Ujala.
The action followed a complaint filed by a resident of Saini Colony in the Pakkakot area. In the complaint to the District Ayurvedic Officer, he alleged that the healthcare centre was selling allopathic medicines despite advertising itself as an Ayurvedic treatment facility.
He further claimed that the clinic’s signboards, prescriptions and promotional material highlighted Ayurvedic treatment while allopathic medicines were reportedly being dispensed on the premises.
During the inspection, officials examined records and documents related to the sale of medicines at the centre. Authorities stated that no valid licence for the sale of medicines was found during the verification process. The absence of the required documentation raised concerns regarding compliance with applicable regulations governing the sale and distribution of medicines.
Following the inspection, Drug Inspector Ms Nidhi Sharma was called to the site to assist in the investigation. Officials collected samples of medicines from the healthcare centre and sent them for further examination and testing.
After completing the preliminary inspection and sample collection process, the authorities sealed the healthcare centre. Officials said further action will be determined based on the findings of the investigation and the results of the laboratory analysis of the collected samples. The case remains under review by the concerned departments and authorities.
