Odisha Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling laid the foundation stone for upgrading a 100-bed government Ayurvedic hospital and constructing a pharmacy warehouse in Bhubaneswar.
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Health and Family Welfare Minister Shri Mukesh Mahaling has laid the foundation stone for upgrading a 100-bed government Ayurvedic hospital in Bhubaneswar and constructing a pharmacy warehouse in the State capital, as part of the government's efforts to strengthen and modernise Ayurvedic healthcare infrastructure.
Speaking at the foundation-laying ceremony, Mahaling said the State government was undertaking several measures to improve the quality, modernisation and infrastructure of government Ayurvedic hospitals across Odisha. He said the initiatives were aimed at preserving, promoting and modernising traditional treatment systems, including Ayurveda.
According to Mahaling, the proposed upgrade of the 100-bed government Ayurvedic hospital in Bhubaneswar is expected to improve the quality of medical services provided at the facility. The upgraded infrastructure will also create a more convenient and patient-centric environment for people seeking treatment at the hospital, reports The Hans India.
The minister said the State government's efforts were focused on strengthening government institutions providing traditional healthcare. The initiatives aim to support the development of Ayurvedic healthcare facilities alongside the modernisation of their infrastructure.
A pharmacy warehouse is also being constructed in Bhubaneswar under the initiative. Mahaling said the facility would ensure organised storage and management of medicines and other essential medical supplies. The warehouse is expected to support the management of pharmaceutical requirements of government Ayurvedic healthcare facilities.
Officials further stated that the Odisha government has approved the construction of a new Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital at Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj district. The approval represents another initiative involving the expansion of Ayurvedic medical infrastructure in the State.
In addition to infrastructure development, the government has enhanced the monthly salaries of contractual faculty members, readers and professors working in Ayurvedic medical colleges.
Mahaling said the State was taking these measures to advance the preservation, promotion and modernisation of traditional treatment systems, with Ayurveda forming a key part of the government's initiatives in the sector.
