UP's Azamgarh set to get 30-bed AYUSH Hospital to boost traditional medicine

Azamgarh: Residents of Uttar Pradesh's Azamgarh may soon have access to expanded AYUSH healthcare services, with authorities preparing a proposal to establish a 30-bed modern AYUSH hospital in the district.
The facility is planned at Khandora in Phulpur tehsil's Pawai block and aims to strengthen access to Ayurveda while also offering Unani and Homoeopathy services under one roof.
The proposed hospital is part of efforts to enhance healthcare infrastructure in the district by complementing existing allopathic services with dedicated AYUSH-based care. Once operational, the facility is expected to cater to both urban and rural populations, providing a wider range of traditional healthcare options closer to patients, reports News18.
As per the proposal, the hospital will provide both outpatient (OPD) and inpatient services, enabling patients to receive consultations as well as admission for treatment when required. The project is also expected to introduce specialised Ayurvedic therapies, including Panchakarma, along with Yoga-based therapeutic services.

Officials said the proposed facility has been envisioned as a modern AYUSH healthcare centre aimed at improving access to quality traditional medicine services in the region. The hospital is expected to offer a structured healthcare environment for patients seeking treatment through Ayurveda and other recognised AYUSH systems, while also supporting the broader objective of strengthening traditional healthcare infrastructure in the district.
The proposal for the new hospital has already been prepared, marking an important step towards expanding AYUSH healthcare services in the district. Once established, the 30-bed facility will become a dedicated institution within Azamgarh's healthcare network, offering outpatient and inpatient care along with modern Ayurvedic treatment modalities.
The project is expected to broaden the availability of AYUSH-based healthcare, support integrated treatment approaches, and contribute to ongoing efforts to strengthen healthcare infrastructure for both urban and rural populations in the district.
