UP's Balrampur to get 50-bed AYUSH Hospital, land handed over

Land in Achalpur has been transferred to the AYUSH Department for a proposed 50-bed hospital, with construction awaiting government budget approval.
Balrampur: A major step towards strengthening AYUSH healthcare infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh's Balrampur has been completed with the district administration transferring identified land in Achalpur to the AYUSH Department for the construction of a proposed 50-bed hospital.
The project is currently awaiting financial approval. Regional Ayurvedic and Unani Officer Sanjay Kumar said a proposal seeking funds for the construction has been submitted to the state government, with work expected to commence once the budget is sanctioned.
The proposed facility will be housed in a two-storey building and will include the 50-bed AYUSH hospital along with the office of the Regional Ayurvedic and Unani Officer. The building is also planned to have an auditorium, guest rooms and other essential facilities.
At present, the Ayurvedic hospital and the office of the Regional Ayurvedic and Unani Officer at the district headquarters are functioning from rented premises. The existing building is reportedly in poor condition, creating difficulties for both patients and staff, reports Amar Ujala.
The administrative office has also been particularly affected by problems during the monsoon. Water reportedly seeps through the walls because of dampness, while waterlogging in the premises adds to the difficulties. Poor cleanliness has also contributed to mosquito-related problems in the area.
The proposed facility is expected to provide dedicated infrastructure for healthcare services as well as administrative operations. The planned inclusion of an auditorium and guest rooms will also form part of the overall hospital building.
The project has been proposed with the broader objective of strengthening Ayurvedic healthcare infrastructure in the district and providing a more suitable setting for AYUSH-related services.
With the land transfer now completed and the funding proposal submitted to the government, the next major step is approval and release of the construction budget. The department expects construction activity to begin after the required funds are sanctioned.
