Controversy sparks over appointment of West Bengal DME
Controversy has erupted over the appointment of Dr. Indrajit Saha, the former principal of North Bengal Medical College, as the Directorate of Medical Education of West Bengal.
In an X (formerly Twitter) post, a doctor has alleged that Dr. Saha was associated with the North Bengal Lobby and supported "threat culture". Further, the doctor accused Dr. Saha of helping the students from the ruling party to get honours marks in the MBBS exams.
Sharing the photograph and appointment letter of Dr. Saha in the post of the State DME, Dr. Anjay Bose, who is an MBBS graduate from AIIMS, wrote, "Meet the new DME of Swasthya Bhawan, Indrajit Saha.. He is the ex-Principal of North Bengal Medical College, who helped TMCP students to fraudulently get honours marks in MBBS Prof exams. He is the man who supported 'threat culture' of North Bengal lobby. Now he is the DME.."

No relief on Bond service for Doctors: Himachal HC stays single bench order
Denying relief to a group of doctors, the division bench at the Himachal Pradesh High Court has stayed a Single Bench order that had directed the release of original MBBS degrees and undated cheques to the doctors who had completed their postgraduate studies.
According to the UNI report, the state government preferred a Letters Patent Appeal (LPA No. 285 of 2025) against the decision, arguing that the doctors were trying to avoid their legal obligation to serve in government health services as agreed under a bond.
The division bench of Chief Justice G.S. Sandhawalia and Justice Ranjan Sharma stayed the impugned order, maintaining that the bond conditions and two years of mandatory service in the rural areas couldn't be relaxed once MBBS signed the bond.

PG Medico ends life by injecting himself with IV fluids
In an unfortunate incident, a doctor working at a hospital in Madurai who was pursuing his second-year postgraduate medical degree allegedly committed suicide by injecting himself with intravenous (IV) fluids. His dead body was found inside his car three days later near the hill town of Kodaikanal in Tamil Nadu.
According to media reports, the doctor had been missing for four days before police discovered his body inside a parked car, which had remained stationary for three days in the same location. While preliminary investigations suggest the doctor may have been in debt due to alleged online gambling losses, police have not confirmed this as the cause of the suicide.
A suicide note was recovered from the car in which the doctor apologised to his family but did not blame anyone or mention a specific reason for taking the step. Since the note gave no specific reason for the act, his family reportedly told authorities that he had been suffering from depression due to a relationship issue.
