NMC releases guidelines for live surgery broadcasts- Here are 8 Key points
Through a recent notice, the Ethics and Medical Registration Board (EMRB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued guidelines to regulate the conduct and broadcast of Live surgeries.
This comes in response to a plea that was filed before the Supreme Court, raising concerns about the private hospitals commercially exploiting the patients and using them as models to fulfill their ulterior motives through live surgery broadcasts in conferences.
In the guidelines, the Apex Medical Commission has referred to the concerns related to the broadcast of live surgeries and addressed the questions such as who can organise such live surgery procedures, who can perform the same, where can it be done, how is it to be done, the responsibility organizers, prior permission of regulatory body, etc.

Hamdard Institute of Medical Sciences and Research responds to MBBS, PG seat withdrawal, Financial allegations
This comes after an article titled "Jamia Hamdard's 150 MBBS, 49 PG seats scrapped for 2025-26; CAG had flagged 813-crore diversion" was published in The Times of India on 23rd July 2025.
Referring to the article, HES mentioned in the notice, "The aforementioned article, based on statements attributed to Jamia Hamdard University, contains material misrepresentations, factual inaccuracies, and misleading assertions that are detrimental to the reputation and lawful functioning of both HIMSR and HES."

Hospitals must register FIR within 6 hours of assault on doctors: MoS Health
All medical institutions and government hospitals across the country have been directed to register an FIR within six hours of any incident involving an attack or assault on medical practitioners, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Smt. Anupriya Patel recently informed the Rajya Sabha.
Medical Dialogues has been extensively reporting on the increasing incidents of violence against medical professionals at various medical colleges and hospitals across the country. While in some cases, the accused have been apprehended and punished due to the immediate registering of FIRs, other cases have seen little progress with FIRs being registered late and not being registered at all in some instances.
Sharing information on the issue, MoS Health Anupriya Patel stated that data and details regarding attacks on medical professionals are not maintained centrally, as it falls under the purview of individual states.

Bankura Medical College HOD Chest Medicine accused of Harassment, intimidation of junior doctors; panel to probe
A senior doctor and Head of the Chest Medicine Department at Bankura Sammilani Medical College, Bankura, is under scrutiny following allegations of mental harassment, obstruction of medical training, and intimidation of junior doctors at the institution.
The junior doctors have alleged that the professor's behaviour and actions have created a toxic work environment at the medical college, making it difficult for them to perform their duties, provide proper patient care and maintain mental peace.
In a written complaint to the State Health Department and the Director of Medical Education (DME), the junior doctors accused the HOD of routinely neglecting patient responsibilities and obstructing their training. They alleged that he rarely visits indoor patients despite the heavy workload and actively prevents junior doctors from fulfilling their duties.
