Delhi Doctor Murder Case: Former Colleague, Flatmate arrested
The accused doctor, a former colleague of the deceased, had been missing since the incident. A CCTV footage obtained from the area showed him leaving the apartment at 8.45 pm with a backpack.
New Delhi: The police has arrested a doctor in the murder case of Dr Garima Mishra, an MBBS doctor who was found dead with her throat slit at her rented accommodation in central Delhi's Ranjit Nagar area recently.
The accused was arrested from Roorkee, a senior police officer confirmed to PTI. The accused doctor has been identified as a former colleague of the deceased.
Dr Mishra (25), a native of Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh, was found dead with her throat slit on April 30th.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported about the murder case of the doctor. The Police were informed at midnight after which they went to the spot and found the body of the doctor lying in the two-room apartment. Mandeep Singh Randhawa, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central), informed PTI that Mishra was allegedly killed by a male doctor, who stayed in the same building. Both of them were preparing for MD.
The accused, a former colleague of the deceased, had been missing since the incident. A CCTV footage obtained from the area showed him leaving the apartment at 8.45 pm with a backpack.
The deceased used to stay in a room on a third-floor apartment and the accused used to stay in the adjacent room with another medical practitioner. The two rooms had a common kitchen and the rent was shared among the three, the police informed the news agency.
Raids were conducted by the central district police and the Crime Branch of Delhi Police at several places in the national capital and the adjoining areas, including Bahraich, from where the accused hailed from.
The interrogation process is on to find the motive behind the murder.
"We are questioning the accused about the motive behind the killing," the officer said.
