Uneven skin tone- Combo of exfoliating cleanser, antioxidant C serum, day cream with SPF and renewing cream may help: Study
Researchers have discovered that a special formulation skincare regimen helps to brighten up uneven skin tone and lighten dark spots, hence the more radiant appearance of the complexion. Dyschromia, characterized by dullness, uneven tone, and hyperpigmentation, often poses challenges for darker skin tones. A recent study was conducted by Thu Q. and colleagues which was published in the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology.
An irregular melanin deposition target regimen would be an exfoliating cleanser, antioxidant C serum, day cream with SPF, and renewing cream. The combined use of these products such as niacinamide and vitamin C, gives the skin a toned and pigmentation-free appearance. This 12-week clinical study was performed on people suffering from mild-to-moderate irregularities of their skin tone.
The study included 43 patients with mild to moderate heterogeneity of skin tone. After 12 weeks, all the patients received the study skincare regimen and were followed up with clinical photography taken at weeks 4, 8, and 12. Tolerability assessment and a self-assessment questionnaire were used to follow up on the perception of the effectiveness of the regimen.
Key Findings
Clinical Improvements:
• Improvement in uneven skin tone was observed at weeks 4, 8, and 12 according to clinical photography compared with baseline.
Consumer Perception:
• 81% agreed that their skin seemed more radiant at the end of the period on the regimen.
• 76% claimed a marked diminishment in the appearance of dark spots after 12 weeks.
• The regimen was well-tolerated, and there were no adverse events observed in the study period.
The study showed that the regimen correlated with a high level of consumer satisfaction. The participants reported a drastic improvement in skin radiance and dark spots during the study period. The low incidence of adverse events indicated that the regimen was both safe and tolerable, offering a reliable solution for skin tone irregularities.
The 12-week clinical study proved that this unique, specifically designed skincare treatment is effective in smoothing out skin tone and minimizing the appearance of dark spots to reveal a brightening effect. The product is both safe and very acceptable for daily use.
