An Instagram post claims that Diabetes and Stones can be eliminated in 15 days by consuming Jamun Guthli powder with milk/water. The claim is FALSE.

Claim

In an Instagram post, it is claimed that Diabetes and Stones can be eliminated in 15 days by consuming Jamun Guthli powder with milk/water. In the post by healthnuskha it is said, "Everyone should know that even the most severe stones and diabetes can be completely cured in just 15 days. For this, you need to take some jamun seeds. Dry them properly and grind them into a fine powder using a mixer. Then, take one spoon of this powder daily with a glass of milk or water for 15 days. In no time, both diabetes and stone problems will be gone. This remedy is very effective. "

Fact Check

The claim is FALSE.

What is Diabetes?

Diabetes is a chronic condition that occurs when the pancreas doesn’t produce enough insulin or when the body is unable to use insulin efficiently. Insulin is vital for maintaining healthy blood sugar levels. If not properly managed, diabetes can lead to persistent high blood sugar (hyperglycemia), which over time can damage vital organs, particularly the nerves and blood vessels.

What are the Types of Diabetes?

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), diabetes is categorized into four primary types:

Type 1 Diabetes: Often referred to as insulin-dependent or juvenile diabetes, this type results from the body’s inability to produce insulin. Daily insulin therapy is required. It mostly affects individuals in high-income countries and typically starts in childhood or adolescence. The cause remains unclear, and no preventive measures are currently available.

Type 2 Diabetes: This occurs when the body becomes resistant to insulin or doesn’t use it effectively, leading to elevated blood sugar levels. It is the most prevalent form, accounting for over 95% of cases globally. It is strongly associated with risk factors such as obesity, sedentary lifestyles, and family history. Though symptoms can be subtle or absent, early screening is vital. Unlike Type 1, Type 2 diabetes is often preventable and manageable through lifestyle modifications.

Gestational Diabetes: This condition is characterized by high blood sugar during pregnancy, which doesn’t meet the criteria for full diabetes. It can lead to complications during childbirth and increases the long-term risk of developing Type 2 diabetes for both mother and child. It is typically detected through prenatal testing.

Prediabetic Conditions (IGT and IFG): Impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) and impaired fasting glycemia (IFG) are intermediate states where blood sugar levels are elevated but not high enough for a diabetes diagnosis. These conditions signal an increased risk for Type 2 diabetes but do not always progress to it.

Can Diabetes Be Cured or Eliminated?

There is no known cure for diabetes, but it can be effectively managed. In some cases, particularly Type 2 diabetes, individuals can achieve diabetes remission—meaning blood sugar levels return to normal without the need for medications—through sustained lifestyle changes like healthy eating and regular exercise. However, ongoing commitment to these habits is essential to maintain remission.

Diabetes cannot be eliminated in 15 days. It’s a lifelong condition that requires steady, ongoing management. While short-term changes like adopting a healthier diet, exercising, and reducing stress can help lower blood sugar levels, they don’t “cure” diabetes. Claims of quick fixes are often misleading and can be dangerous. What truly makes a difference is a long-term commitment to lifestyle changes. With time, some people especially those with type 2 diabetes may see dramatic improvements, sometimes even reaching remission. But this takes months or years, not days. It’s important to focus on sustainable habits rather than hoping for a rapid reversal.

The post does not list all types of bodily stones, but gallstones and kidney stones are the most frequently occurring types in humans.

What are Gallstones?

Gallstones, medically known as cholelithiasis, are hardened deposits that develop in the gallbladder or bile ducts due to an imbalance in the substances that make up bile—a digestive fluid produced by the liver. As per the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, these stones can range in size from tiny particles to larger formations and may lead to pain or serious complications if untreated.

There are two primary types of gallstones:

  • Cholesterol gallstones, the more common type, result from excess cholesterol in bile, which crystallizes and forms stones.
  • Pigment gallstones consist mainly of bilirubin, a breakdown product of red blood cells, and are more frequently seen in people with liver diseases or certain blood disorders.

Treatment for Gallstones

Gallstone management depends on the severity of symptoms and the stone’s characteristics. A common treatment method is cholecystectomy, or surgical removal of the gallbladder, which can be done laparoscopically (minimally invasive) or through open surgery in complex cases.

For stones in the bile duct, Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is used to extract them without removing the gallbladder. In rare instances, shock wave lithotripsy may be applied to fragment the stones, often along with bile-dissolving medications like ursodiol.

What are Kidney Stones?

Kidney stones—also called renal calculi or nephrolithiasis—are hard mineral and salt deposits that form in the kidneys when urine becomes concentrated with crystal-forming substances like calcium oxalate, phosphate, uric acid, cystine, or struvite.

They are associated with increased risk for chronic kidney disease, end-stage renal failure, cardiovascular issues, diabetes, and hypertension.

Treatment for Kidney Stones

Treatment aims to relieve pain and prevent complications:

  • Shock Wave Lithotripsy (SWL) uses high-energy waves to break stones into smaller pieces that can be passed through urine.
  • Cystoscopy and Ureteroscopy involve guiding instruments through the urinary tract to locate and remove or fragment stones.
  • For larger or complex stones, Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy (PCNL) is often preferred, which involves a small incision in the back to access and remove the stone directly, often aided by lasers.

These techniques are tailored to stone size, type, and location, supporting faster recovery and optimal patient care.

What are the Health Benefits of Jamun Guthli?

Jamun guthli or seeds are rich in phytochemicals like phenols, flavonoids, and tannins, offering multiple health benefits. Research suggests they have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, hepatoprotective, cardio and gastro-protective properties.

Can Diabetes and Stones be eliminated in 15 days by consuming Jamun Guthli powder with milk/water?

The claim that diabetes and all types of “stones” can be eliminated in 15 days by consuming Jamun (Indian blackberry) seed powder with milk or water is false and medically unsupported. Diabetes is a chronic metabolic disorder that cannot be cured—certainly not in 15 days. Furthermore, the viral post fails to specify what type of “stones” it refers to. If referring to gallstones, they cannot be removed without surgical or endoscopic intervention. Kidney stones, on the other hand, require clinical evaluation, and most cannot be dissolved in such a short timeframe.

Jamun is gaining scientific validation for its broad therapeutic potential, particularly in metabolic and chronic disease management. According to the Polish Journal of Food and Nutrition Sciences, jamun seeds are a rich source of bioactive compounds—including hydrolysable tannins, phenolic acids, flavonoids, terpenoids, phloroglucinol derivatives, and saponins—that exhibit a wide range of biological activities such as antidiabetic, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antimicrobial, antihyperlipidemic, and antihypercholesterolemic effects, along with cardioprotective, hepatoprotective, and neuroprotective benefits.

Building on these properties, a recent study published in the Journal of Medical Society reveals that jamun seed powder, when used as a supplement, significantly improves glycemic control in individuals with poorly controlled type 2 diabetes mellitus despite being on diet and oral hypoglycemic agents.

Despite these studies and positive health benefits, there is no scientific proof or medical consensus that supports that claim that diabetes and all types of “stones” can be eliminated in 15 days by consuming Jamun (Indian blackberry) seed powder with milk or water. Hence, the claim is FALSE.

Dr. Pooja Pillai, Consultant Physician and Diabetologist, Aster CMI Hospital, Bangalore said, "No, consuming Jamun Guthi powder with milk or water will not eliminate high blood sugar in just 15 days. While Jamun has properties that may help support blood sugar control, it is not a magical cure. Managing diabetes or high sugar levels requires a holistic and consistent approach like balanced diet, regular exercise, stress control, and sometimes medication. Natural remedies like Jamun can complement a healthy lifestyle, but relying on them alone for quick fixes can be risky. Sustainable results come from long-term habits, not short-term experiments. It’s important to stay informed and avoid falling for oversimplified health claims."

Dr. Rajiv Kovil, Head of Diabetology, Zandra Healthcare and Co-founder of Rang De Neela Initiative further said, "There are No Scientific Evidence for Jamun Guthi Powder mixed with milk. There are no peer-reviewed clinical trials proving that Jamun Guthi powder eliminates diabetes.

While Jamun (Indian blackberry) has some benefits in glycemic control (due to jamboline and ellagic acid), these effects are modest and supportive—not curative. Relying on such unproven remedies may lead patients to stop medications, miss blood sugar checks, and risk serious complications (kidney failure, vision loss, heart disease). This is pseudo science and medical malpractice in disguise. It preys on patient desperation and distracts from evidence based clinical care which is practiced globally."

Medical Dialogues Final Take

The claim that Jamun Guthli powder can eliminate diabetes and stones in just 15 days is FALSE. Diabetes is a chronic disorder that cannot be cured, especially not with an unproven herbal remedy. Furthermore, the post does not specify the type of "stones": Gallstones cannot be eliminated without surgical intervention. Kidney stones, depending on size and composition, require proper diagnosis and treatment, and cannot be dissolved in such a short span of time.

Hence, the claim by the user is FALSE.
