Fake doctor held in Delhi
A man in his mid 20s was on Friday arrested here for impersonating a doctor of the renowned Ganga Ram Hospital and duping a patient of Rs.8,000, said hospital authorities.
According to the authorities, the incident came into limelight after they received a complaint from a patient that one of the doctors, whom they found outside the general out patient department, had promised them to get their MRI done easily despite the long waiting list along with the reports for Rs.8,000.
However, after receiving the money, the person disappeared.
"As soon as we received the complaint, we checked the CCTV footage and initiated an alert both in the hospital and all other major private hospitals of the city," M.S Jaswal, additional director (administration) at the hospital, told IANS.
"However, we got to know that one similar incident took place at Max Super Specialty Hospital in south Delhi, where the same person was captured.
"As we wanted to know who he was exactly, we once again alerted police today (Friday) morning and luckily the hospital security again found the same person loitering outside the ENT out patient department, following which he was overpowered and questioned," he added.
On questioning, the person claimed that he was from Uttar Pradesh's Meerut city and pursuing a course at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital.
However, it was found that no such person was enrolled in any of the courses at the medical institute of the hospital.
The person was, later, handed over to police and an FIR was filed against him for impersonation and duping a patient.
