Haryana: Gurgaon civil hospital doctor shunted after girl dies while waiting in queue
Gurgaon: The Haryana government on shunted out a child specialist and terminated the services of an employee of the civil hospital here for their alleged negligence in the treatment of an 11-year-old girl.
The child died without treatment while her mother was standing in a queue on Monday to get the patient registration done, an official said.
Ramesh Dhankar, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Gurgaon’s government-run civil hospital, on Wednesday said that the child specialist Umesh Mehta has been relieved from Gurgaon hospital and sent to Mewat civil hospital.
Dhankar also said that the services of Class 4 employee Anita, who was on duty on Monday, have been terminated.
Dhankar also said that the Principal Medical Officer (PMO) has been directed to increase registration counters at the hospital with a time frame.
The mother of the deceased girl kept on shuttling from out-patients’ department (OPD) counter to the emergency ward, stating that the child’s condition was deteriorating and she needed immediate medical attention. However, the staff on duty refused to provide her medical aid without patient registration number.
