Annual Declaration: NMC Publicises Details of 684 Medical Colleges Running MBBS Course
New Delhi: Aiming to ensure the optimum level of transparency in functioning and facilities available in the medical colleges, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has put the details of 684 medical colleges running MBBS courses in the public domain.
These details can be accessed under the "Annual Declaration" tab on the Apex Medical Regulator's (NMC) website. The Commission has uploaded various details of the medical colleges including the name and details of the medical college, application id, student admission details, hospital details, clinical load details, death/birth details in the locality, faculty details, and OT details.
The Undergraduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB) of the NMC announced its decision to publicise these details through the public notice dated 07.06.2024.
"In order to ensure the optimum level of transparency in functioning and facilities available in the Medical Colleges with regard to the infrastructure, faculties etc., Under Graduate Medical Education Board has decided to place all the details of the Medical Colleges running MBBS courses in public domain," NMC mentioned in the notice.
"Public at large may access the details of these Medical Colleges on the website of the National Medical Commission (NMC) under the “Annual Declaration tab/link” for the year 2024-25 onwards. This issues with the approval of the Competent Authority," it further added.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that NMC for the first time had notified about the importance of the Annual Declaration Form through its notice dated 18.03.2024. Issuing the notice last month, the Commission had warned that no seat would be permitted if any medical college failed to submit the annual declaration within the deadline.
"All Medical Colleges/Institutes having valid Letter of Permission (LoP) for MBBS admission are hereby directed to fill the details/data of respective Institutions on NMC portal for annual declaration as required in the NMC Act, 2019 and various regulations issued by NMC from time to time. Submission of duly completed Annual Declaration Form of each College on NMC Portal is mandatory for annual renewal of permission of UG-MBBS seats. No seat shall be permitted in case the College/Institution fails to submit the Annual Declaration within the specified time period," the Apex Medical Commission had stated in the notice.
