New Delhi: Taking serious cognizance of forged letters of permission and renewal (LoPs and LoRs) being issued to various medical colleges across the country, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has put out a stern direction for medical education bodies in all states and UTs to follow.
As per the recent NMC directive, the Directorate of Medical Education (DME) in all states and UTs must fill the MBBS, PG medical and Super Speciality (SS) seats as per the information available on the NMC website only.
In addition, the apex medical commission has also advised the concerned stakeholders, medical institutions as well as the general public, to not take any action based on the information from any other source except the NMC website.
Medical Dialogues has been reporting about the forged letters menace amidst the ongoing NEET and NEET PG counselling. The fake LoPs claimed to be issued on behalf of the Member/President of the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of the NMC.
Till now, the NMC has released two clarifications on such fake permission and renewal letters being issued to GSL Medical College, Rajahmundry, Maharajah lnstitute of Medical Sciences, Vizianagaram, Santhiram Medical College, Nandyal, Meenakshi Medical College, Kanchipuram, and Santhiram Medical College, Kurnool.
Referring to this matter, the NMC has now ordered the Directorate of Medical Education of the states/UTs to admit students only on the basis of the seat information mentioned on the NMC’s official website.
“It has come to the notice of Medical Assessment and Rating Board(MARB) of National Medical Commission that several forged/fake letters have been issued to various college on behalf of Member/President, MARB whereas no such communications have been sent to the colleges in this regard.
Taking the cognizance of the above facts, all Directorate of Medical Education of the states/UTs concerned are requested to fill the seats of Under Graduate-MBBS and Post Graduate- Broad Speciality and Super Speciality for the academic year 2023-24 only on the basis of the information available on the website of National Medical Commission,” stated the notification issued under the authority of Arun Kumar Singh, Deputy Secretary of MARB.
Further, the NMC advised:
“The above facts are also brought to the notice of all concerned and general public to not take any action based on information provided by any other sources except the information available on the website of National Medical Commission. lf any discrepancies are found/noticed, the same may be cross verified from National Medical Commission.”
